About Me

Singer-Songwriter | Writer

Hi! My name is Tamrin Gellert Ghai. I was born and raised in New York City and graduated from Bates College in 2026 with a BA in Music and Philosophy. Growing up, music was a constant in my life. I began piano lessons at 5 while also studying ballet, and internalizing music through both sound and movement gave me an early, lasting appreciation for the art form.

My education has shaped nearly everything I create. Studying music and philosophy side by side taught me to approach songwriting and writing alike with curiosity, asking bigger questions about meaning, belief, and connection, and letting those questions live in my work.

That approach comes through most clearly in my newsletter, which I started while studying abroad at University College Dublin during my junior year. What began as travel documentation grew into something more reflective: I've written philosophically about everything from elections to my travels, using the newsletter as a space to think out loud about the world and my place in it. You can read it right here on this site, and I plan to keep it going as my journey continues.

Now that I've graduated, I'm seeking new opportunities, but first, I'm setting off on a cross-country road trip, writing the newsletter along the way.

Music remains at the core of it all. I've played piano for over 15 years, ukulele for 10, and guitar for 8, and I picked up tabla in 2024. Since I was 12, I've been writing songs to express thoughts and feelings I couldn't work through any other way. I've released four original tracks with more music on the way. I hope you'll stick around and hear what's coming next!
